New café brings bold design, brunch vibes and local flair to North Yorkshire
A vibrant new café destination is opening its doors in Great Broughton this month, where colourful interiors meet North Yorkshire charm. The Stones Café – the latest addition to The Wainstones Hotel (which is undergoing refurbishment) – will officially open on Friday 20th June, promising standout food, a relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of personality.
- Located in the heart of Great Broughton, The Stones Café will officially be open from Friday 20th June 2025 at 10am.
- A standout all day menu featuring fresh, homemade breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, sweet treats and artisan drinks.

The Stones Café has been designed as more than just a place to grab a cuppa, it’s a stylish, dog-friendly venue, created for locals, visitors to the area, cyclists and walkers. The Stones Café brings together bold, contemporary design with the kind of warm welcome that Yorkshire does best.
A ceiling of skylights accentuated by exposed scissor trusses fills the space with natural light, while a full-height floral wall created by Fulford Flowers, brings the outside in with serious wow factor. The installation mixes wild, whimsical and seasonal blooms in a joyful way, which is part of what makes the café feel more like a lifestyle space than your standard brunch spot. A floating ‘Treat TV’ proudly displays the daily selection of freshly baked cakes and doughnuts, tempting to both big kids and small kids!
Bold Food, Big Flavour
The all-day menu is packed with fresh, homemade breakfast, brunch and lunch options, such as acai bowls, homemade tatty scones, and a proper Yorkshire all-day breakfast. And for those who like a bacon or sausage bap, The Builders Bomb is made for you.
There are lighter bites too: pick-and-mix salad bowls and the signature sandwich, Party in Your Mouth. Then come the sweet treats: whether it’s the indulgent Death by Chocolate, or the Sweet Yorkshire Pud you choose, every item on the menu is freshly baked and prepared from the kitchen – you’ll smell ’em before you see ’em.
To drink, expect matcha lattes, proper mugs of tea, fresh smoothies and a juice bar, alongside a curated selection of soft drinks – perfect for relaxed brunches or afternoon catch-ups. Local where possible, always full of flavour.
A Café That Celebrates Individuality
The Stones Café team are as colourful as the interiors. Each member of staff wears a bold animal-print apron designed by Scottish artist Steven Brown, paired with their own colourful pair of Adidas Gazelles. Name badges feature each team member’s ‘spirit animal’ – a playful detail that reflects the café’s ethos: everyone is welcome, and individuality is celebrated.
Local Goods at The Pantry
At the back of the café, The Pantry is a beautifully stocked shop offering everyday essentials and handpicked local goods. Shoppers can expect to see freshly baked bread and pastries, alongside standout Yorkshire-made products such as Reet Yorkshire Food’s small-batch sauces, The Yorkshire Pasta Company’s premium pasta rom Reet Yorkshire Food and premium pasta from The Yorkshire Pasta Company, and nourishing blends from Ancient + Brave.
You’ll also find art-meets-nature gifts for kids, and if you need milk and stamps, aye, we’ve got those too.
From July, guests will also have access to a sensory room – a calm, low-stimulation space. It’s just one of the many thoughtful touches designed to make venue inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for all.
Kevin Shanahan, Commercial Manager for The Wainstones Hotel and The Stones Café, said: “We are delighted to open our doors to this wonderful space and let you experience it in your own way!
The team behind The Stones Café have put a lot of thought into designing a beautiful venue for visitors, but also a place that fulfils the needs of our neighbours. We are fortunate to be in such a stunning part of the country. Whether it’s popping in for a pint of milk, treating the family to a spot of lunch, or quenching your thirst with a fresh juice after a hike nearby, The Stones Café will become a destination in its own right.”
