As the name suggests, Rebel Business School is a Queen’s Enterprise award-winning organisation that sets out to inspire adults to setting up their own businesses in unconventional ways. Their ethos is to encourage people to have the belief that you don’t need loans, assets to start a business. What you need is an idea and fundamental skills that anyone can learn – in a fun way.
Rebel Business School were bringing their virtual roadshow (during the pandemic) to Newcastle and Gateshead and needed a PR agency with good regional knowledge and connections in the community to raise awareness and drive sign ups for their course.
As straightforward as this brief sounds, it was not easy. We had the connections in the communities and the local councils, we knew who their audiences were, and we had the story and brand assets. What we needed to do was to raise awareness of who Rebel Business School were, garner interest in their courses and inspire belief that people really can turn ideas into a business venture without the burden of loans or financial pressure – in 4 weeks!
Firstly we made contact with all our connections in the local communities who we knew were trusted by and therefore had an influence over residents in their community. We collaborated with them and the local councils to deliver a vast social media campaign, which included tapping into community groups on Facebook, running social ads and issuing organic content through our partners.
We then engaged the local business community who we knew had started their business from nothing and who Rebel Business School’s audiences could relate to. Part of this collaboration was to raise awareness of the opportunity on LinkedIn and Twitter via a video produced by our friends at The Social Co.
The campaign generated the largest number of sign ups they had seen for their courses in the shortest time
